TESTIMONIALS

I'm so glad I decided to do something about the various issues I was having with my pelvic floor. I had tried exercises, pelvic toners, medication etc but they weren't very effective. After working with Shakira I no longer need bladder medication. She taught me how to do a range of pelvic floor exercises correctly and the difference in muscle tone is huge. I was worried about the embarrassment but Shakira was professional and kind. She always put me at my ease.

Menopause Client

I had a 3cm gap and very little tensile strength across my belly. Shakira was very good at explaining where I was at and how to move forward. I carried out the homework every other day as prescribed and found improvements after 3 weeks. This gave me encouragement to keep going and continue with the updated exercises that were provided at my second appointment.

Postnatal Client

Thank you so much for all you’ve helped me with these last few months. I could never have imagined having a smear test before coming to see you and I’ve done it! I’m also now expecting a baby and just wanted to let you know the news and to thank you so very much for everything earlier this year! Without your guidance I really don’t think this would be happening for me. What a journey it’s been.

Vaginismus Client

I felt comfortable and confident with Shakira from my first appointment. She guided me to improve my prolapse symptoms with exercises and adaptations that I could easily do at home. Now 8 months on, I am able to live without the prolapse affecting my every day life.

ABOUT ME

I graduated from St George’s University of London in 2009 with a Bsc Honors degree in Physiotherapy. Following this I worked both privately and within the NHS with a specialist interest within musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy.

Whilst working at a private Pilates studio in 2017, I focused heavily on pelvic floor and core stability rehabilitation. I gained a greater interest into pelvic health and since then I have chosen to specialise as a Senior Womens Health Physiotherapist. I treat both musculoskeletal complaints and pelvic health complaints. This includes pain, sexual dysfunction, SUI, OAB, prolapse, pre and postnatal women, diastasis, menopausal women, musculoskeletal pain and lead physio led pilates 1:1 sessions and also classes.

I am fully acupuncture trained by the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and I’m a member of the Chartered Physiotherapy Society.

I have extensive experience in rehabilitation and understand how important it is for women of all abilities to be able to continue with their every day activities, hobbies or professional sporting commitments. I'm a big believer in empowering women to achieve their individual SMART goals. I will complete a thorough and appropriate initial assessment, communicate throughout with evidence based research with the aim to aid my clients through their journey to a better quality of life.

I am a true believer that pelvic health should be accessible to every woman at all stages of their life and feel this area of physiotherapy is my passion. I want to spread this message far and wide and empower other women to reform their core and get back to their personal life goals.
